When the VIP Membership Program was introduced to the game, many were drawn in because of all the screen shots similar to the one below. Large equipment score improvements enticed many players. To our surprise, Zynga has held up their end of the bargain and have refreshed VIP loot every month. VIP generation 5 improved my equipment scores by a total of 23,929 points. Generation 6 improved my total score by 11,246. That’s over a 50% decrease and I would like Zynga to refund me a total of $12.49! The latest generation was released a few days ago and has been the least helpful to date Click.
Once I maxed on the Generation 5 loot (back in July), I ran the Stats History Spocklet and learned that the loot improved my attack by 11,593 points and my defense by 12,336. To me this was worth the $24.97 I paid for the month.
This month is a different story. Once I maxed out on the 8 new loot items…..
I was very disappointed to see that the improvements were more than half of what they were the previous month. Obviously if this is your first month as a VIP subscriber, you will have better results.
It looks like Zynga is relying on the benefits tiers of this program to retain players rather than a great boost in equipment scores. Perhaps players aren’t purchasing Marketplace loot items at the same rate as they used to. This nerf will certainly make it harder to decide if the VIP Program is worth it. Letting Facebook be responsible for billing isn’t helping Zynga. I know they don’t have a choice but they could offer other ways to purchase memberships such as reward points or Game Cards.
