For those of you who like to click on stuff, Zynga has added some surprise purchase option to the Game Header. We all know what happens when you click on the “Hospital” link. You get the Hospital window and can select one of many options to heal your character. There are now a few more popup windows which encourage you to purchase things such as in game currency, energy, stamina and skill points.
If you hover over the currency display which is out of the bank, you should notice it becomes a link. Click on it and an option to buy more with reward points will appear.
I had to chuckle when I clicked on my New York currency. I already have over a quadrillion dollars in the bank. What on earth is purchasing $65,967,000 more for 10 reward points going to do for me? The only winner in that transaction would be Zynga.
If you are low on energy, there is no longer a need to visit the Marketplace or do a job you don’t have enough energy for in order to purchase a Energy Refill. They even let you use your Energy Pack if you have one available.
Unlike currency, if you are full on energy, they won’t try to hustle you into buying more. It will say “Your energy is currently full”. They will try to tempt you to overpay for skill points. We should all know by now that you can get more than 4 skill points for 12 reward points by speeding up a Global Property timer.
The same applies with Stamina Refills but they don’t give you the option to use a Power Pack. I guess they figure in the heat of battle, fighters are desperate and will forget about their Power Packs.
As with the energy, they let you know you are full and don’t need a refill but still try to get you to purchase skill points.
If you click anywhere around your experience meter, you will get the option to add your unallocatted skill points or purchase skill points at an inflated price.
If you don’t have any skill points to reallocate, there will just be the offer to buy more (at an inflated cost of course). Remember that if you make any of these purchases during a Marketplace Promotion, they will not count. To get a tick mark, you must be in the Marketplace.
